Trailer Lights Galore
I grew up in a brood of manly men all into vehicles of sorts that at the early age of 8 I was already fumbling with totally wireless lights for trailers. Pop and my two older brothers would get up early every morning and drag me with them to the farm. Not being a morning person, I wasn't of much help and my only task was to check whether the farm equipment LED lights were working properly.
Since then I got the hang of fumbling with trailer lights and with new found interest at that. Different trailers such as utility trailers, heavy equipment trailers, flat bed trailers, gooseneck trailers and boat trailers are mandated by the law to have corresponding types of trailer lights. Be it magnetic trailer lights or LED trailer lights, such are required to ensure safety while on the road.
Here are the standard trailer lights seen in most vehicle trailers:
Taillights
Tail lights are the most common and obvious modifications seen on any kind of car. All trailers have illuminating tail lights whilst driving. These lights are the ones with red casing that brighten when the vehicle comes to a stop. Given this, tail lights are also referred to as brake lights as they light up when the brakes are depressed. Not only does this act as a brake signal, it also is an indicator of the trailer's rear.
Marker Lights
These are the ones found on the sides, bed and gooseneck of a trailer. This light illuminates upon startup of the ‘trailering' vehicle and stays lit as the vehicle runs. Marker lights prove to be very useful on long trailers as it shows other drivers in other lanes the trailer's whole length. Having marker lights reduces the risk of accidents, especially at night. Basically this type of light serves safety purposes and can be typically found on flatbed trailers, equipment trailers and gooseneck trailers.
Turn Signals
This light has an amber casing and light up when the turn signals of the vehicle trailer are activated.
Reverse Lights
Encased in a white casing, this type of light illuminates when the towing vehicle is put in reverse – as the name suggests. It will light up when the vehicle is backing up.

A standard can be used in place of LED lights, though the latter type provides better and brighter lighting as compared to the former.
License Plate Lights
Encased in white casing, these small lights illuminate the license plate so to identify the trailer's rear.
