Home Alarm System Options

"I've been to many homes that didn't have any type of home alarm system and let me tell you its a sad thing when you see things taken from good people who obviously didn't have much to begin with.."

There are two types of alarms systems you can buy, one that has an easy personal set up at very low cost or one through a major alarm company that do the installation and monitoring for you. I would like to discuss the major alarm companies first; I'm going to tell you some truth's you may not want to hear. As a police officer "we" would get dispatched to hundreds of alarms per week. More than half of them are false alarms due to weather or other technical problems. While a "10-58" (audible alarm) is not a low priority call, lets just say its not a high priority one either. We don't run "code" to these types of calls unless there is further information from another caller suggesting that an actual burglary is taking place. Most police officers don't rush to these types of alarms (this is not my opinion) hint hint.

Once a home alarm is triggered, the alarm companies attempt to contact you by phone (to determine if alarm was accidently "tripped") before notifying the police department. Needless to say several minutes have passed by the time the alarm company calls you, calls the police, call is then sent to dispatch, then dispatch assigns us the call. And in case you didn't know, the City does bill you (in San Antonio, Tx) for calls made that were "false alarms". Now on the upside, you do have police responding to your home, and yes sometimes we catch these idiots in the act! I have personally been to hundreds of houses and businesses over the years and many of those times there was no burglary.

 The home alarm systems I have on my website ( D-Escolate Personal Protection Weapons ) are everything from basic audible contact alarms to sophisticated infrared motion detector sensors that set off a siren, trigger flood lights and call you when activated. This could allow you to call a neighbor (if available) and possibly have them call the police and take descriptions of people or vehicles which is very helpful to the Police when responding to a home alarm or a call for a burglary in progress. I understand there will always be pro's and con's to everything, but the main objective is to prevent these criminals from entering your home, leaving you with an awful  feeling of vulnerability and also with your hard earned valuables and sense of security!!
