01.

From donating tablets to educating with them

Claro, the leading telecommunications brand in Latin America, was planning to deliver more than 300,000 tablets to Colombian public schools across the country as part of a national initiative to foster the adoption of ITCs in the classroom.

To support this process we designed Educlic, an open platform that offers teachers the opportunity to create, record and share interactive and animated video lessons with all the students included in the program.

02.

Supporting teachers to support students

Through our research process, we realized that the integration of this technology in classrooms represented a personal challenge for many teachers.

Many of them felt intimidated by not having the skills needed to work with the tablets or were afraid that they could threaten their jobs. With this in mind, we centered the design of the learning system around developing content and functionalities that supported teachers through their pedagogical work: from creating a lesson to adding materials and designing interactive quizzes.

03.

Learning through questions and stories

Inspired by methodologies such as Flipped Learning and Self-Organized-Learning Environments (SOLE), in Educlic teachers were encouraged to start their lessons by posing questions that ignites curiosity (e.g Why do Astronauts float in space?and answering them through the use of stories.
